  • Yes, you will be able to fly in the first lesson! We have built-in safety features on the planes and radio, plus you have a certified instructor. By the third lesson, you will be able to take off and land!

    1. Three free RC flying lessons with a certified flight instructor, weather permitting.

    2. Each lesson is 45-60 minutes of instruction and flying (2-3 flights)

    3. The club provides an instructor, a trainer plane, batteries, and a radio for free.

    4. The instructor and student use two wirelessly connected radios for training and safety.

    1. Learn the basics of flight (how an airplane flies).

    2. Learn about basic equipment (radio, battery, checker, etc.)

    3. Learn safety pre-flight checks.

    4. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the joystick inputs in the radio and how they influence the plane's flight.

    5. Practice properly holding and using the joystick.

    6. Practice taxing

    7. Practice pattern flying

    8. Practice banking and figure eight.

    9. Practice lining up on the runway and low pass

    10. Practice takeoffs

    11. Practice landing

  • Hopefully, the experience gave you a better sense of how this is a hobby you'd like to pursue. If you want to continue the hobby, these are steps you can take:

    1. Join Aeronautics Modelrs of America (AMA), which offers liability insurance that will protect you every time you fly in the field or elsewhere.

    2. Join any RC club or the West Coast RC Flyers Club. Click on the JOIN tab on the website if you wish to be a member.

    3. Buy your plane and equipment (radio, battery, charger, etc.). Seek out members for the best advice when buying what you need.

    4. Continue to watch videos, read books and articles, or seek mentorship.

    5. Fly and practice, practice, practice.

  • The club has many veteran RC fliers who can answer questions, give free advice, mentor, and help repair RC airplanes.

  • Yes! All are welcome. We have a covered area with picnic tables and benches.

  • Yes, guest RC pilots may fly provided they show an up-to-date AMA card/number and can demonstrate flying the aircraft safely.

  • Yes! The helicopters and drones must be FAA-registered and demonstrate that they can be flown safely.

  • Absolutely!

    We are a non-profit organization with expenses necessary to maintain the airfield. Our low fees and generous donations of time and money from members allow us to continue providing services.
